How to Use Our Cut Files with Silhouette Studio
Getting started with our cut files on your Silhouette is simple:
Download your SVG or DXF file from your Hip Kit Club account
Open Silhouette Studio and go to File > Open or drag the file onto the canvas
Resize the design to fit your project and adjust cut settings for your material
Send to your Silhouette -- select your material type and press cut

Get Unlimited Cut FilesSVG vs DXF: Which Format for Silhouette?
We include both SVG and DXF with every cut file. Here's when to use each:
SVG (Recommended)
The best choice for most users. SVG files import cleanly into Silhouette Studio Designer Edition and above. They preserve layers, colors, and groupings exactly as designed. If you have Designer Edition or higher, use SVG.
DXF (For Basic Edition)
DXF is the go-to if you're running the free Basic Edition of Silhouette Studio (which doesn't support SVG import). DXF files contain the same cut lines and work perfectly -- you just won't see color fills until you assign them manually.
We also include PNG (great for Print & Cut projects) and JPG (for reference and planning). All four formats come in every download.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do these work with Silhouette Studio Basic?
Yes. Use the DXF format for the free Basic Edition of Silhouette Studio. DXF files open directly and contain the same cut lines as the SVG version. If you have Designer Edition or higher, you can also use the SVG format which preserves colors and layers.
Are these compatible with Silhouette Cameo 4?
Yes. Our cut files work with every Silhouette machine -- Cameo (all generations), Portrait (all generations), and Curio. The files are standard SVG and DXF formats that Silhouette Studio recognizes on any connected machine.
SVG or DXF -- which should I use?
If you have Silhouette Studio Designer Edition or higher, use SVG -- it preserves layers, colors, and groupings. If you have the free Basic Edition, use DXF. Both produce identical cut results. We include both formats in every download so you always have the right one.
Are there free cut files available?
Yes! We offer free cut files you can download after creating a free account. These are full-quality files in all four formats. You can also get access to all 1,000+ files with our Unlimited Cut Files package for $39.95.
How do I download after purchase?
Log in to your Hip Kit Club account and go to "My Account" then "Downloadable products." Click the download link next to each file. You'll receive all four formats (SVG, DXF, PNG, JPG) in a single ZIP file.
Can I sell projects I make with these cut files?
Our cut files are licensed for personal use and small-batch handmade sales (craft fairs, Etsy shops, etc.). You cannot resell the digital files themselves, but physical projects you make -- cards, scrapbook pages, home decor -- are yours to sell.
